Shining a Light on Anna Field – Gardner

This month we spotlight the person who lights up the day for our patients and us. Anna Field -Gardner, our front desk registration specialist!

Anna has been brightening our days for the past two years. She is caring, thoughtful, and extremely thorough in her duties.

Working the front desk registration at an ER can be hectic and stressful. But Anna loves a challenge and embraces each day, determined to do better than the day before. She loves that her work is fast-paced, and her motto is that the greater the challenger, the bigger the reward.

Her response might surprise you when you ask her what she loves most about the job. She, of course, enjoys the opportunity to help others, but she cherishes the learning experiences the most. She says her position has taught her valuable leadership lessons and furthered her communication and critical thinking skills. Additionally, she’s taken every opportunity to expand her accounting and business knowledge and expertise in various specialties.

Although no two days are alike at the front desk registration, her primary duties include patient registration, reconciling A/R, auditing charts, rectifying billing issues, and ensuring all our reporting is accurate, especially the reports presented to the State.

Anna’s Chinese cultural background has influenced her values in family, traditions, and good food. She feels fortunate because she celebrates two New Year’s every year, on January 1^st, and then the Chinese New Year, a month-long celebration. This double celebration is perfect for Anna as she loves to host and embrace family and friends around a bountiful table.

Anna adores Las Vegas, a place near and dear to her heart, as she spent her honeymoon there. She likes to joke that her husband took her to Paris, and they climbed to the top of the Eiffel tower, and she didn’t even need a passport to do so.

As you can imagine, Anna is the life of the party; one of the reasons she enjoys Las Vegas so much is the shows, lights, and touristy vibes. But she also likes to have a good time when she is close to home. Her adventurous spirit delights in trying new restaurants – her favorites being Gyu-Kaku and Fogo de Chao. Then, later she relishes experimenting with delicious new recipes.  Anna also loves dancing and touring local wineries in her free time.

Family is the center of Anna’s life. On Sundays, she wakes early to make breakfast for her family. She loves seeing how happy her daughter gets when they make waffles or pancakes.

Afterward, she teaches bible class to preschool kids at the children’s ministry at Sugar Creek. In the afternoon, she enjoys watching football, relaxing with a glass of wine, and eating crawfish with her family.

Sundays, for her, are a time for reflection and gratitude, preparing for the hectic work week ahead. Because family is so important to her, she does her best to spend quality time with her daughter and create meaningful memories.
